LOCATION
Only two stops—just nine minutes!—from JR Kyoto Station and 35 minutes from Shin-Osaka Station on the special rapid express. A great base for Kyoto sightseeing or a business trip to the Kansai region. Why switch hotels in Kyoto and Osaka, when you can stay in Otsu and conveniently access both cities?
Imagine staying seven minutes’ walk from Otsu Station, which is only two stops—just nine minutes!from JR Kyoto Station.
When you disembark the Shinkansen in Kyoto, make your way to the local line platform. There you can change to the JR Biwako Line which will whisk you away to Otsu in only nine minutes! It’s easier to get to Otsu than many places on the Kyoto Municipal Subway. What’s more, you can also access Otsu via the Keihan Railway, which has a direct connection to the Tozai Line of the Kyoto Municipal Subway. Once you're in Otsu, you can hop on the Keihan Railway at Biwako-Hamaotsu or Kamisakaemachi Stations, which afford easy access to Nanzenji Temple (Keage Station), Chionin and Heian Jingu (Higashiyama Station), and even to Kyoto City Hall and Karasuma Oike Stations. We are a good place to stay even if you plan to visit Arashiyama on the western edge of Kyoto. If have plans near Kyoto Station, take the JR. If have plans in Higashiyama or central Kyoto, take the Keihan. It's that simple! This convenience is what makes Otsu the perfect place to stay.
You can also take the Keihan Railway to Hieizan Enryakuji Temple and Ishiyamadera Temple. If you plan to visit the Hikone Castle, or Ohmi Hachiman, you can take JR.
